                                  Miccosukee Transportation

The Miccosukee Indians inhabited northern Florida and southern Georgia which meant they had a vast area of land and water. Transporting people and items were in need of help. So, the Miccosukee Indians made flat dugout canoes from hollowed-out cypress logs. The waters surrounding Florida were filled with these canoes that were steered by poles to help guide them. On land, they used dogs as pack animals and walked by foot. This was before horses were introduced to North America by Europeans.

                    Personal Reflection of Brett Westwood

The Miccosukee Indian tribe used canoes and dogs as transportation on and off land. I find this impressive because now a days we have way better technology like cars, boats, buses, and airplanes and take it for granted sometimes. Our transportation now a days cuts time in half or more from going to one place to another compared to the Miccosukee Indian's time period. I give a lot of credit to the Miccosukee Indians for being a successful tribe with little transportation opportunities while having to deal with mother nature unknowingly.
